sonografía urbana presents a series of sounds recorded during several walks inside and outside of the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR) and the Plaza del Mercado (public market) in Santurce. Although parallel and very close on the map of Santurce, these two spaces are distant and dissimilar in their social practices, its occupants, its architecture and building materials. Using contact microphones, each recording contains sounds produced by the vibrations on the architectural materials (marble, bronze, stainless steel, plastic and concrete) with which the buildings were built at the MAPR and the Market Square. The titles of the sounds refer to the place, activity or sound object and the time at which they were recorded. The work was a commission for Entorno Magazine 2006, the Magazine of the Colegio de Arquitectos y Arquitectos Paisajistas.
