hacer sonar el Sol (sound metaphor for a measurement of light). Mixed media (aluminum plate, light source, loudspeakers, custom data). Variable measures. 2021.
hacer sonar el Sol explores the possibility of translating the spectrum of light wavelengths (nm) and the intensity of reflected light into sound, serving as a sound metaphor for sunrise and sunset. The colors and sounds in the installation are determined by data collected from measuring sunlight reflected on an aluminum plate. The light wavelength data (nm) obtained from a spectrometer is mapped into sound frequencies (Hz). A custom program processes this data, re-synthesizing it into an evolving sound composition within the audible spectrum, combining Hz frequencies with MIDI tones. This installation was developed during an artistic residency at the UAGM Museum in Gurabo, Puerto Rico.
